Happy Birthday, Sam !

It was Sam's birthday yesterday, and of course we celebrated in style. First was the present opening: Sam got a scooter, a battery operated Thomas engine, some water wings for the pool, a Gruffalo tee-shirt and some other wonderful prezzies yet to be delivered (there is a card from the postman and Sam is heading to Stockport later this week, so who knows what awaits up there...)

As it was Saturday, we had a relaxed breakfast and pottered around the house until it was time to go for lunch at Carluccios for a 'Pinner Dinner'. Sam had lasagne with strawberry ice cream for pudding. The lunch of champions!

After lunch, we headed out into London to try and get in to Lords cricket grount to watch the Olympic archery, but sadly we did not get in because our tickets were for the morning session and we got there too late. What a shame! Never mind, we'll catch the next one in, say, 60 years.

So, what to do? We strolled through Regent's Park, caught the Bakerloo line from Baker Street and got out at Embankment. There we crossed the river to the Southbank and sauntered along eastwards, soaking up the atmosphere (and an ice cream) on the way.

We eventually got to Southwark where we jumped on a Jubilee line train and headed home. There waiting for him was a wonderous Birthday Cake, with very nice icing. I'[m not sure what happened to it as there is no sign of it anywhere now...

Sam had a very nice day even though we missed the archery.

This was such a wonderful idea to do his Blogspot. We who are not there get to see him in all his wonderfulness. Is that a real word.

Hey what happened to our comment? Anyway, Grandma loved watching you blow out the candles on your cake, Sammy. She is looking forward to seeing you soon! So am I!
