As you may be able to see, the weather was a bit wet and windy. So much for 'flaming June'! Nevertheless, we soldiered on and visited Camber Sands, where it was just too wet to get out of the car. We decided to sit out the rain while having a picnic in the car, so we nipped across to Rye and had the picnic there. We ventured out of the car to visit the Mermaid Corner Tea Rooms and a short, damp look at Rye. After scuttling back to the shelter of the car, we drove to a fish merchant and got 1kg of lemon sole for a tenner (bargain!) and headed back home.
On the way back, we realised that the rain had abated and the turning for Camber Sands was just up ahead, so back we went. We parked (for free, thanks to the very nice car park attendant). We got out and braved the lashing wind and warm rain, and we lasted a good 15 minutes before running back to the car again to dry off and head home.
